Dr. Robert Gates, former Secretary of Defense, will speak at TAMUCC on November 11th

Former Defense Secretary Robert Gates
to Speak at the Inaugural Distinguished Speaker Series
Hosted by Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi

Former Texas A&M president will speak at
the Island University on Veterans Day.
Friday, November 11, 2011 at 8p.m.
at the Performing Arts Center.

Dr. Robert M. Gates served as the 22nd Secretary of Defense (2006-2011) and is the only Secretary of Defense in U.S. history to be asked to remain in that office by a newly-elected President. Before becoming Secretary of Defense in 2006, Gates was the president of Texas A&M University, and has served as the interim dean of the George Bush School of Government and Public Service.

His memoirs, From Shadows: The Ultimate Insiders Story of Five Presidents and How They Won the Cold War were published in 1996, and he is currently working on a new book.
